What Is Pilates?
Unlike other studios which require an expensive purchase of several private introductory lessons, TerraLuna believes in letting you try before you buy.
We provide options so that you can decide what is the most comfortable and convenient way we can acquaint you with the Reformer, key concepts, and some basic terminology.
We are always here to answer your questions and provide support and encouragement so feel free to give us a call or simply stop by the studio and say hello.
The TerraLuna Difference
Pilates can be modified to accommodate most body types, fitness levels, ages,
and mobility levels.
Because many Pilates activities are done lying down, they are accessible for
most people, even those with significant health challenges or previous injuries.
We are committed to providing a safe and respectful environment
welcoming to all bodies.
Pilates is an exercise program originally developed by Joseph Pilates. Pilates at TerraLuna focuses on developing strength and flexibility through the art of controlled movement.
Pilates is a series of activities guided by a certified instructor who ensures proper technique and provides an enjoyable and safe workout designed to improve core strength, tone and lengthen the muscles, increase flexibility, and improve balance.
Some Pilates studios offer mat classes which take place on a yoga mat on the floor. TerraLuna is special in that we offer only Reformer Pilates.
Two of TerraLuna's Reformers are pictured here. A Reformer is a special piece of equipment featuring a sliding platform called a carriage and a series of springs and pulleys attached to straps for the hands or feet. Reformer Pilates allows for a wide range of exercises that stretch, strengthen, and support the body.
At TerraLuna we use the Balanced Body Studio Reformer.
