Greetings Friends,
New classes have begun! Yesterday was a milestone at TerraLuna, the beginning of a new era and the result of nearly two years of planning and work. It is a true joy to watch our Studio grow from a place for Reformer Pilates to so much more. Here are description of all of our classes:
Reformer Pilates is our original love and will always be center-stage. Lynelle, Nancy, and Hillary will continue to offer a variety of Reformer classes for all skill and ability levels. We firmly believe in the power of Reformer Pilates to heal and strengthen the body is a gentle manner accessible to most people and for a bit more on our philosophy you can click here.
Mat Pilates, just like Reformer Pilates, is low-impact exercise focused on building strength, flexibility, posture, and balance. Instead of using specialized equipment (the Reformer), Nancy's Mat classes provide a full-body workout with just a few pieces of simple gear. Think of this as Pilates on the go! Your Mat practice will support your Reformer practice, giving you tools to easily do Pilates anywhere, at home or on travel. Participants must be able to get up and down off the floor without assistance.
Cycling is a low-impact (easy on the joints) workout on our Keiser stationary bikes. Nancy aims to elevate your heartrate for cardio-pulmonary health and challenge your core and lower body muscle groups with appropriate posture and technique. Go at your own pace- this class is accessible to most people!
Barre is a series of small, repetitive moments utilizing one's own body weight and a few simple props to build strength and muscle tone. Barre is designed to exhaust muscle groups so you will have "the shakes"! Nancy will lead activities at the ballet barre for support and stability; no dance background required. This low-impact (easy on the joints) class does not involve jumping, dancing, or aerobics-type movements and is accessible to everyone able to performing standing exercise for 50 minutes.
Proudly introducing Hybrid, a TerraLuna original offering. This class is Nancy's passion: 20-30 minutes of cycling to elevate the heart rate combined with the strength training, cool down, and stretching of 20-30 minutes on the Reformer. It's the best of both worlds and the perfect introduction to shorter increments of cycling.
Yoga is a practice of gentle movement. It can include meditative aspects if one wishes but yoga is not a religious practice in any way. Erin will be leading both of the following:
Yoga for Strength a traditional yoga flow seamlessly integrated with strength-building exercises. Expect an extensive warm up flow with a challenging peak of body-weight bearing movements like planks and squats and concluding with a calming cool down to ensure your body feels balanced and rejuvenated. This class is designed to enhance your strength and balance your energy so that you can take on life’s tasks with a little more ease.
Yoga for Flexibility a class designed to enhance your range of motion and overall mobility through traditional yoga flows. Expect an extensive warm-up leading to a peak that challenges your flexibility with deep, sustained stretches. We'll conclude with a soothing cool down to leave your body feeling balanced and rejuvenated, so you can move through life with greater fluidity.
Turn & Burn, another TerraLuna original offering. This class is also Nancy's brainchild: 20-30 minutes of cycling to elevate the heart rate combined with the strength training of 20-30 minutes of Mat and/or Barre. It's the best of two worlds: shorter increments of cycling with the challenge of small-muscle targeting, high repetition work.
This low-impact class is accessible to everyone able to get up and down off the floor without assistance and able to performing standing exercise.
Tai Chi was developed by a monk who believed that one should be able to get good exercise without sweating. He developed a system of fluid movements performed slowly, focusing on controlled breathing, balance, footwork, and focus.
Norman Wilson's class will begin seated in a chair to learn the basics of the day's movements. Participants will be invited to stay seated and experience "Chair Chi" or to stand if desired to learn the day's footwork. This meditative form of movement is designed to improve balance and mobility and is accessible to all Guests.
Lastly, some details about pricing. In order to keep things as user-friendly as possible we're keeping our pricing structure and membership options as is! Your membership purchase, whether Terra (4 classes per 30-day billing cycle), Aether (8 classes), Zodiac (12 classes) or Luna (20 classes) will gain you access to any and all classes at TerraLuna. There is no need to juggle multiple packages at different price, all billing on different dates for different services.
May you find peace in each day and joy in your body.
Blessings,
Lynelle
