Greetings Friend,
As part of TerraLuna's dedication to community care, we are excited to partner again this school year with local 3rd Grade Math & Science Teacher (and studio Guest) Angela Andrews. Angela has been a teacher for 10 years, all of which she has spent in the Hamilton City School District at Riverview Elementary and she kindly took a few moments out of her time preparing for this upcoming school year to share some thoughts with us on her job as an Educator.
Angela, what are some of the life challenges children in your classroom face that can negatively impact their learning?
"A majority of the students that attend Riverview are from families with broken homes, poverty and are transient. My students come to school and possibly not have eaten the night before, have not slept in a comfortable bed, do not have clean clothes and have no parental support. These are things that drastically impact the students learning.
I strive to provide a comfortable, safe and loving learning environment. I want my students to feel wanted and important when they come to school. My goal every school year is to not only educate my students but provide the love, attention and support that they may not experience elsewhere and if they do, then they get a double dose."
Angela, what is one thing you bring to the lives of the children you educate?
"I provide consistency, structure, and new experiences for my students. My students will always receive love, care and kindness in my class. I encourage my students to trust themselves and have confidence, be problem solvers and inquisitive to help them become critical thinkers and live long learners. I strive to bring excitement to learning and help my students build a love and appreciation for mathematics and science."
We are honored to share Angela's classroom Wishlist (found on Amazon, link below) to help provide the school supplies that she would otherwise be purchasing out of her own pocket.
Angela shares with us that "I am excited for the new school year and to meet my new little ones. We cannot have a successful school year without the much-needed supplies. Unfortunately, a majority of my students are not able to purchase and bring supplies so I attempt to supply as much as I can for them on my own.
I am so grateful and thankful for everyone who is sponsoring and supporting my classroom. Every little bit helps more than you know.
May God Bless you all! Again, thank you from me and my students."
Angela, thank you for caring for our local children and working to bring them consistency, love, and a positive adult relationship. Your work with children goes so far beyond math and science and we are proud to do a small part to help you bring your best self to the classroom each day!
If you would like to check out Angela's Amazon Wishlist and make purchases in support of Riverview’s 3rd Grade Math & Science classroom, here is a link where you can help:
May you find peace in each day and joy in your body.
Blessings,
Lynelle
