Guest Spotlight: Meet Sandy

Sandy Brown has been a Guest at TerraLuna since May, 2023 and we'd like to get to know her a bit better.

What brought you to Pilates and how long you've been practicing?

I have been at TerraLuna for one year and what a year it has been!  It took some courage to walk through that door as of course I was afraid I couldn't do it.  But, Lynelle, calm and reassuring, wraps you up in love and security. She sets the stage for love and acceptance to all who enter, no matter your age, shape, health etc. Best decision I've ever made!

Do you have a goal you'd like to share that Pilates helped you/is helping you obtain?

One of the reasons I was afraid to walk through that door is I have an autoimmune problem that causes me to have energy problems. Also, I was in a bad car wreck when I was young and it affected my low back and my neck so I have a tendency for flareups. But again, if I'm having a flareup, she will adjust the class toward my problem to help strengthen that certain area,  always reminding me to go at my own pace.

What class(es) have you/do you take? Do you have a favorite class?

I mostly take Reformer classes as I love how it strengthens my core, but I'm looking to expand to Jump Lite or StretchLates.

What is an activity which was difficult for you in the beginning but is now easier?

What drew me to Terra Luna in the first place was watching Facebook posts of some people that I know who were reaching goals doing planks. That was my first goal when I got to TerraLuna! I could not hold a plank to save my life. But shortly after that, from all the strengthening and all the classes, I started performing planks to my great surprise!

Tell us about props! Favorite and least favorite.

I have a love-hate relationship with the squishy ball. I love to see what it accomplishes, but I hate doing it to be honest! I know others love the squishy ball. Maybe someday I will too!

If you had a "Signature Activity" what would it be?

Fire Baton (because I used to twirl fire in high school)!

How do you define "wellness"?

Well, have you ever said "I didn't know I needed that"? Walking into TerraLuna has become my soft place to land. Lynelle has set the tone to where it feels like family. So it's not just for your body, but it's also for your mind, and your soul.

Would you share a little-known fact about yourself?

My husband and I went to chiropractic school together where I did the Chiropractic Technician's Program, learning to take x-rays and learning how to run the front desk, while he studied to become a chiropractor. We have our Chiropractic office on the west side of Hamilton and are still going strong after 39 years.

Finally, what is one food/drink you cannot live without?

I am Irish and German, but my all-time favorite food is Italian with a nice glass of Cabernet or at poolside, with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc.

I just feel so blessed and grateful that God led me to this wonderful family of friends where I can share a laugh, share my faith, get amazing fashion advice, recipes, and the latest books all while keeping integrity in my spine, core etc. And I would be remiss if I didn't mention Norman because I do know that it takes two people to create such a wonderful business in TerraLuna. I thank you both from the bottom of my heart.❤️❤️❤️

Thank you Sandy, for sharing a bit about yourself and your Pilates journey!
