Lori Pierson has been a Guest at TerraLuna since September, 2023 and we'd like to get to know her a bit better.
What brought you to Pilates and how long you've been practicing?
I have been coming to Pilates classes at Terra Luna for a little over a year. My sister-in-law, Susan Zeek, was already a member and she told me how much she enjoyed it. I could see her getting stronger and more fit over time, so I decided to give it a try. I loved it from the first class.
Do you have a goal you'd like to share that Pilates helped you/is helping you obtain?
My goals are to strengthen my core, to improve my balance, and to practice breathing control to improve my workouts and calm my mind.
What class(es) have you/do you take? Do you have a favorite class?
I take Pilates classes on a regular basis. I also take StretchLates and Jump Lite classes every once in a while. I signed up to try the Tai Chi class soon.
What is an activity which was difficult for you in the beginning but is now easier?
When I started taking classes, my balance was very bad. I had to hold on to the Reformer during balance exercises. Now I can do the exercises with no difficulty. I have also improved my planks!
Tell us about props! Favorite and least favorite.
My favorite prop is probably the ring.
If you had a "Signature Activity" what would it be?
I don't really have a signature activity, but I really like the leg work with straps.
How do you define "wellness"?
To me, wellness is being as healthy as possible physically, mentally, and spiritually. I feel that TerraLuna has built a community of support that has a positive impact on all of those aspects of wellness.
Would you share a little-known fact about yourself?
A little known fact might be that I participated in horse shows throughout my childhood.
Finally, what is one food/drink you cannot live without?
I love all kinds of food, but my favorite snack is popcorn.
