Kaitlyn Reed Henry has been a Guest at TerraLuna since October, 2023 and we'd like to get to know her a bit better.
What brought you to Pilates and how long you've been practicing?
I started Pilates last October, so it has been a year now. I was inspired to take Pilates by social media. When it comes to working out, I am very much a creature of habit, and knew if I wanted to see changes, I would need an instructor to guide my workouts. A couple of things that drew me to TerraLuna were the intimate class setting (because new things can be scary), the "come as you are" environment, and how close it was to home. My husband and I have lived in multiple communities within Cincinnati, and I can say for a fact that my Pilates family has finally given me that sense of community I have been searching for.
Do you have a goal you'd like to share that Pilates helped you/is helping you obtain?
My personal goals include building strength, improving my posture, and genuinely enjoying my workouts. Ever since I started Pilates, I've become more mindful of my body movements and can easily make corrections when necessary.
What class(es) have you/do you take? Do you have a favorite class?
I have taken classes in Beginners Reformer, Reformer, Feisty Fridays, StretchLates, and Turn 'n Burn. If I had to pick a favorite, it would have to be Reformer. However, all the classes are fantastic and some really challenge you to step out of your comfort zone. Another reason to love TerraLuna is that the studio provides a safe environment where you can try new things without fear of judgment.
What is an activity which was difficult for you in the beginning but is now easier?
I would have to say planks for sure!
Tell us about props! Favorite and least favorite.
I enjoy using the ring for stretching, but I have a bit of a grudge against the squishy ball because I know it requires more effort when using it.
If you had a "Signature Activity" what would it be?
I believe it's called the "breaststroke." You have to stand up, hold the hand straps in each hand while you're in the middle, and gently plop down onto the box.
How do you define "wellness"?
I believe that wellness is about feeling good both mentally and physically, and engaging in activities that encourage that.
Would you share a little-known fact about yourself?
That my first car was a manual, and I learned how to drive it in one day.
(& here are Lemon and Lima Bean! ->)
Finally, what is one food/drink you cannot live without?
I cannot live without an iced latte, it’s the fuel that keeps me going!
Thank you Kaitlyn, for sharing a bit about yourself and your Pilates journey!
