Guest Spotlight: Meet Jerri

Jerri Begley has been a Guest at TerraLuna since September, 2022 and we'd like to get to know her a bit better.

What brought you to Pilates and how long you've been practicing?

My best friend in Lexington, KY is an owner/instructor of a Pilates studio, and she gave me the want to try it! When I saw that Terra Luna was opening and only 5 minutes from my house, I knew that was my sign. I started my journey in September 2022 and haveloved every class and every person I’ve met since then.

Do you have a goal you'd like to share that Pilates helped you/is helping you obtain?

For the last two years, I have had knee issues/pain. After tearing my meniscus twice

and then getting a total knee replacement, I wanted to be in the best shape prior to

surgery so it would be easier for my rehab and get back to class! Lynelle has been a

godsend to me with my surgery preparations and rehabilitation of my knee. She helped

me hit my goal of coming back to Pilates 5 weeks after surgery and continues to work

with me every class!

What class(es) have you/do you take? Do you have a favorite class?

I rotate between Beginner’s Reformer and Reformer classes. Every class I attend is a

favorite because for 50 minutes, I’m with friends and doing what I love. I’m anxious to

start the Jump board classes again!

What is an activity which was difficult for you in the beginning but is now easier?

I wasn’t a big fan of C-curve or 100’s, but the more I do them, the easier they get.

Tell us about props! Favorite and least favorite.

My favorite and at the same time least favorite is the spiky half ball! It’s been a huge

rehab tool for my knee. I love it and I hate it!

If you had a "Signature Activity" what would it be?

I enjoy all the activities the classes offer. Foot straps and leg circles have helped with

overall flexibility.

How do you define "wellness"?

Wellness is doing what I can to enjoy my life. Thanks to my hard-working husband,

friends, and a year of Pilates, I know what I need to have a healthy mind, body, and

spirit.

Would you share a little-known fact about yourself?

I recently retired/resigned after 13 years as an elementary school librarian. I loved being on the same schedule as my kids when they were younger. I now get to travel with my husband, spend time with my adult children, and still substitute teach when I miss the classroom.

Finally, what is one food/drink you cannot live without?

Pizza and/or tacos. We eat it at least once a week!

Thank you Jerri, for sharing a bit about yourself and your Pilates journey!
