Darby Oliver has participated in Reformer and Stretchlates classes at TerraLuna and we'd like to get to know her a bit better!
Would you share with us your Pilates story and how long you've been practicing Pilates?
My mom has been doing Pilates for awhile and convinced me to give it a try. It has been about a year now and I am absolutely hooked!
Darby also says "these two classes [Reformer and Stretchlates] compliment each other so well with a mix of strength training and stretching."
What is an activity which was difficult for you in the beginning but is now easier?
In the beginning planks were awful and now they are much less challenging.
Do you have an activity that you currently struggle with? If so, what are the challenge that you experience?
I still struggle with hamstring mobility but Strechlates has made a huge difference in just a few weeks.
Tell us about props! Favorite and least favorite.
The “magic ring” is both my favorite and least favorite! When using it to stretch it feels incredible but adding it to an exercise can make it extremely challenging.
If you had a "Signature Activity" what would it be?
My favorite activity is elephant. This movement allows me to get a deep stretch in my
legs as well as my back. I end every class with an elephant stretch!
Do you have words of wisdom to share with other Guests?
Give Reformer Pilates a chance! It can look intimidating but it really is suitable for everyone.
Finally, what is one food/drink/item you cannot live without?
I can't live without coffee!
Thank you Darby, for sharing a bit about yourself and your Pilates journey!
