Cheryl Bowling has been a Guest at TerraLuna since May, 2023 and we'd like to get to know her a bit better.
What brought you to Pilates and how long you've been practicing?
I started Pilates in May of 2023 after the loss of my husband which was August of 2021. I was struggling to motivate myself back into everyday life and needed something to focus on.
Do you have a goal you'd like to share that Pilates helped you/is helping you obtain?
My goal was to just get moving. I found so much more. Pilates has given me a home away from home and a community of friends that have become part of my journey. Lynelle has been a huge part as she welcomed me and all my baggage with open arms.
What class(es) have you/do you take? Do you have a favorite class?
I pretty consistently take a Reformer class 3 times a week. Then twice a month I take a StretchLates class which I love.
What is an activity which was difficult for you in the beginning but is now easier?
The plank!! I feel like I had so little core strength when I started and planks were intimidating.
Tell us about props! Favorite and least favorite.
I like the spiked ball because I feel it helps my coordination/balance. I have a hate/love relationship with the squishy ball!!
If you had a "Signature Activity" what would it be?
Leg circles. In the beginning I was using momentum to make this movement. I think I am now using core and muscle strength to do this movement.
How do you define "wellness"?
For me, wellness is about finding joy again in living. Being able to be happy I feel leads to taking better care of myself whether it’s through exercise, eating better, or feeling gratitude again for all my blessings.
Would you share a little-known fact about yourself?
I’m not sure this a secret anymore, but I raise sheep.
Finally, what is one food/drink you cannot live without?
Chocolate.
Thank you Cheryl, for sharing this beautiful photo of yourself and Myron, as well as a bit about yourself, and your Pilates journey!
